We want to address some of the mistakes we’ve made in our launch of FurryUK.
TL:DR: We screwed up. The logo is getting binned. This IS a furry-owned venture, and believe it or not, AI will have no part to play in it!
First of all: We’re sorry. It was never our intention to cause offence or insult to anyone in the community. Indeed we ourselves are long-standing members of the furry community. We value enormously the creativity and expression that is at the heart of furry.
In that vein, we wanted to start our own little company to offer a service to let people in the community get everything from stickers printed, to T-shirts made with your own designs, and a whole lot more. We wanted to do this so we could provide a furry-owned and run business you could trust. It horrifies us that we might have damaged that trust before we even got started.
Sadly we didn’t communicate effectively in our website, and indeed this has given a false impression that we were going to be actually designing materials ourselves, and potentially using AI to do so. We want to reassure you that this was never the plan, and indeed at no point did any of us here at FurryUK get busy with AI ‘prompts’. Nor did we have any plans to do so.
Indeed, we ourselves were never going to be the creative ones in this endeavour. That was something we fully intended on leaving to you, the most creative people in our community!
FurryUK is something we’ve been passionate about getting set up over the past several months, and it was something we have been very excited to launch. We’ve invested a great sum of money into acquiring a workshop space, procuring equipment, and of course in registering the business.
In our haste to get things like our website setup, and our logo provisioned, we took a rushed route.
For this, we apologise. The logo will be binned. We’re directly commissioning a community artist to create a new logo, from scratch – No AI involved. No Fiver! (we have removed the old logo from all of our socials and will be removing it from our videos and website over the next few days, again we are sorry)
We would like to reassure you all, that indeed at no time did any of us sit down in front of any AI prompts to create any materials for Furry UK. We apologise for our mediocre, beginner photoshop skills but AI has just never factored into the process with Furry UK for us, and never will.
Nevertheless, leveraging services like Fiverr was the wrong approach to take, and as mentioned above, it’s one we’ll be steering clear of as we move forward.
We want to be clear that all we seek to do here, is provide a service YOU can use for YOUR OWN designs and creations. Not a faceless corporation. Not an AI ‘Vibe-Coded’ business. A true furry maker shop to help YOU get YOUR work made into real, physical items like stickers and clothing.
We really have a love to make this happen and we really hope you can see it in your hearts to give us another shot – this is something we care about a great deal!
